Meeting the Mayor

My student council advisor suggested that we attend a dinner with the mayor to hear about the present issues in Mesa, and boy was it worth it!

I've always wanted to get into politics by becoming a news anchor, so I really enjoy listening to political debates and current events. Our Mayor had a lot of great ideas concerning the welfare of the city. One of the issues pointed out was having technology in the classroom, which he argued is vital to train our children with so that America can continue to compete with other countries. I know many toddlers that can use an iPad before they can even walk, so it scares me to think that I will have to compete with younger ages. They will already be so much farther ahead than I was even at a young age! It just reminded me that I need to work hard and study as much as I can in order to stay on top.

It's good to be active in your community. Whether it's participating in school spirit days or attending city council meetings, the more participation from the people will create a better environment.
